With Bordeaux’s portion of market share having diminished in May and June, wines from other regions are seeing increased levels of trade. This week on Liv-ex 4.6% of all trade was of Italian wines, while Rhone (which had 1% of share in June) accounted for 2.7%. Champagne and Burgundy took 2.4% each.
We took a look at the non-Bordeaux wines that have been topping the trade tables this week (based on total value of sales). Italian wines are continuing to prove popular, with Tua Rita Radigaffi 2009 (LWIN 1105823) – scored 96 points by James Suckling – in the lead.
With market interest clearly broadening, the August Market Report (released at the end of next week) will reveal whether Bordeaux’s total monthly market share has further retreated in July.
