The Liv-ex indices were flat again in November, the fourth month in a row that prices have remained stable. The Liv-ex Fine Wine 100 and Liv-ex Fine Wine 50 both dropped back slightly, showing falls of 0.3%. In contrast the Liv-ex Bordeaux 500 inched up 0.2%.
Of the components of the Liv-ex 100, Cristal 2002 (LWIN 10825422002) was the biggest riser (table below), with fizz demand benefitting from the fast approach of the festive season. It was joined on the leaderboard by Mouton Rothschild 1998 (LWIN 10125441998), which boasts a big score from Parker and a sub £3,000 price. Latour 2002, widely seen as the wine of the vintage, also edged up (LWIN 10123162002).
Latour's fortunes were mixed, however, with both the 2009 and 2003 on the downward slope . The 2005 from its near neighbour, Lafite (10118722005), proved November's biggest faller, however. As we stated on Friday's blog, while pricing for some of Lafite's more affordable vintages has started to turn, those vintages at the top of the price bracket remain under pressure.
